"Parks and Recreation"'s season 5 appears to be shaping up as a tale of two cities: Pawnee and Washington D.C. With the season 4 finale, Ben Wyatt (played by Adam Scott) was poised to take a job in Washington D.C., leaving newly-elected city council member and girlfriend Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) behind.
As Scott points out, the strain of long distance will be felt by more than just his character's relationship, as April (Aubrey Plaza) will be in Washington with him. The actor told Zap2it, "I live in DC now with April, Aubrey's character. We're working on a congressional campaign there... So it's kind of the strains of long distance relationships both with me and Aubrey's characters with our people back in Pawnee. For my character, it's a big deal because I'm in the major leagues as far as politics goes. And Leslie coming to visit and feeling a little bit like a country mouse puts a little bit of strain on the relationship."
Regarding how permanent the new D.C. digs are, Scott seems blissfully unaware. "I don't even know. It might be all season," he says. "We've only shot two, three episodes. But I don't know how long I'll be there. But it's cool. They have this great, beautiful new set with these fancy offices in D.C."
Can the relationship of Ben and Leslie (LesBen?) flourish long distance?
