Wipeout renewed by ABC

Ready to hit the water?

ABC certainly is, as it has renewed Wipeout for a sixth season, which will include the series 100th episode. Jill Wagner will return as co-host, after sitting out last season in favor of Vanessa Minnillo. The series will begin airing later this year and run through the end of Spring 2013, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“I’m thrilled that we will hit a major milestone in our sixth season, our 100th episode. We’ll be celebrating all season long with brand new over-the-top courses and the return of Jill Wagner to the Wipeout family,” said Matt Kunitz, creator and executive producer.

Wipeout features 24 contestants who compete to win a $50,000 grand prize. They navigate an obstacle course, which often ends with them ending up in the drink. It's a wholesome show, which can be viewed by the whole family.

John Anderson (SportsCenter) and John Henson (Talk Soup) will return as well, to provide snarky commentary and mock the wet players.

Below is a video showing some highlights of the series.

Have you caught the series before? What did you think of it? It's not something I'd watch all the time, but it's not a terrible way to kill a half-hour.
