Fringe Season 5 Promo Reveals Olivia's Return, Walter's Torture

Fringe's upcoming fifth and final season is heading right down the pipeline. With only thirteen episodes left before FOX's sci-fi gem is gone for good, the series is undoubtedly going to be heading into some pretty dark territory. After all, season 5 is going to take place in the dystopian future of 2036, where the Observers have completely taken over. It will be up to the old Fringe team -- plus Peter and Olivia's daughter, Etta -- to topple the evil baldies' regime.

Of course, things aren't going to be easy. The Observers, as we've seen multiple times through the first season, aren't too easy to kill. Even September, the only Observer apparently on our side, took a higher-speed-than-normal bullet to the chest and, though he nearly died, ultimately survived.

A promo for the new season, though, proves that Walter Bishop (John Noble), is even tougher to crack -- as I'm sure we all suspected. The Bishop patriarch is revealed in a new promo to have been captured by the Observers, who don't treat him kindly. They pretty much beat the living hell out of him, and it's not pretty. But even with a bleeding eye and some pretty severe future bruising, the Observers find Walter to be "fighting much more than [they] would have thought possible."

Also revealed in this thirty-second promo is the method of Olivia's return. While she wasn't part of the team that was rescued from the amber in 2036, she's been kept just as preserved somewhere else. Where exactly her block of amber is remains unknown, but this promo at least confirms the theory that she's frozen somewhere.

Check out the promo below.
