After twenty-three episodes as Guillermo on 'Weeds,' Guillermo Diaz ('Half Baked') is up for three more. As the massively-popular series comes to a close, TVGuide.com reports that fan-favourite Diaz has been asked to return for the final episodes, including the highly anticipated series finale.
'Weeds' creator Jenji Kohan was elated for the opportunity to bring Diaz back into the fold. "I love Guillermo," Kohan was quoted of saying about the star of the hit show 'Scandal,' "[they were] generous enough to let us have him for a little while."
As was widely reported, 'Weeds' star Mary-Louise Parker wept when she read the script for the series finale; one has to imagine that some of emotions stemmed from the tumultuous relationship between Parker's character Nancy and Diaz' Guillermo. The reunion may not be a happy one, considering the last we saw of Guillermo he was being arrested outside of Nancy's home in the sixth season. When asked about Guillermo's role in the final episodes, Kohan hinted that the situation between Guillermo and Nancy may have taken a turn for the better: "it's time that they just accept the fact that they're going to be in each other's lives."
As Huck on the series 'Scandal,' Diaz has continued to cultivate a fan-following in supporting roles. His return on the 100th episode of 'Weeds' is sure to bring the emotion and anticipation to a new height for the upcoming finale, and Kohan also hinted that Guillermo may not be the only blast from the past that Nancy contends with as the show comes to a close. "Everyone who came back was important to me," Kohan continues, frothing up fan speculation as to who else could show their familiar face around the Botwin clan.
'Weeds' airs Sundays at 10/9c on Showtime. The two-part series finale airs Sunday, Sept. 16.
