If "Community" fans were worried that the pop-culture references would fall by the wayside after showrunner Dan Harmon's unceremonious exit, the latest casting news should help assuage those fears.
IGN confirmed that the worlds of "Battlestar Galactica" and the show's Doctor Who-parody "Inspector Spacetime" will collide, as Tricia Helfer has signed on to guest star in the sitcom's upcoming season. Indeed, it seems Constable Reggie and the intrepid Inspector will have their hands full this season, as new showrunners David Guarascio and Moses Port revealed at Comic-Con that an upcoming episode will revolve around an Inspector Spacetime convention, and Helfer will drop in as Lauren a "drop-dead gorgeous superfan."
The casting comes on the heels of previous reports that "Little Britain"'s Matt Lucas will play another Spacetime fan. Super-fan Abed will pay a visit to the Inspector Spacetime convention, befriending fellow fanatic Lucas and no doubt falling for geek goddess Helfer.
The actress’ best-known work was as Cylon Number Six in the modern-classic Sci-Fi Channel reboot "Battlestar Galactica." No word on whether Helfer will be revealed to be Cybermen-knockoff (or whatever the Spacetime equivalent of the Doctor Who villain would be dubbed) in disguise.
Can the casting of actual Doctor Who mainstays be far off? David Tennant, anyone?
