The X Factor did it, American Idol did it, so it’s no surprise that America’s Next Top Model shook up their judges table as well. In April ANTM restructured the show to attract new viewers. During the restructuring long time judge Nigel Barker was victim to the new lineup.
For the 18th season of the show Tyra Banks and producers decided it was time for something new. Though Barker, Miss J and Jay Manuel were let go, Barker admitted to the New York Post that he has no hard feelings over the business decision.
“I know it was tough on [Tyra] as well. It’s never easy to fire someone, least of all, of course, a friend. At the same time, this is business and things change. She’s a good girl, a strong woman, and she’s done a lot with her life.”
The photographer shared that he and wife Crissy are excited for the show, but are moving on to “bigger and better things” in their lives. Barker will appear on “The Face” alongside Naomi Campbell, Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova. He will host the competition that follows aspiring models as they compete to be “the face” of famous brands.
Critics suggest that “The Face” is just another way for Naomi Campbell to continue her ongoing feud with Tyra Banks. The models assure they’ve grown up and the rivalry is behind them, but doesn’t the show sound awfully similar to The CW hit? It doesn’t help that Barker is attached to both projects in a way, too.
