‘Glee’s’ Naya Rivera has a lot on her plate.
While working on her forthcoming solo album, Santana the cheerleader on the Fox smash will adjust to college and missing her friends, family and girlfriend. Rivera told The Hollywood Reporter her character and Brittany (Heather Morris) will be together at the start of the season, despite the distance.
“It’s definitely a struggle, as is any long distance relationship and they will be dealing with that new challenge,” Rivera said. “I know she misses her and she definitely makes time to visit Brittany. I do hope that they’re in it for the long run, but as with any long-distance relationship, it has its challenges- especially when you’re still in high school.
Showrunner Ryan Murphy has pledged Brittany and Santana will have an “equal amount” of PDA as characters Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith) on an upcoming episode. “A lot of time Heather and I will be in a scene and we have free reign to kiss each other if we see fit but a lot of the times- especially since they are still in high school and my character was still dealing with this secret that just got out, we would tread lightly on when we would have PDA moments. A lot of times as actors it just doesn’t fit; you don’t just want to make out to make out.”
As far as the solo album, Rivera said “We’re still recording and getting everything together. It seems like we’re inching closer to actually putting something out very soon.”
“Glee’s” fourth season returns 9 p.m. Sept. 13.
