As it turns out, former President Bill Clinton was the man to finally knock "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" off of its ratings pedestal.
“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’s” ratings have been rising for the past month since its debut, but Wednesday’s episode pulled in 2.4 million viewers, which was a 20 percent drop from the previous week according to Nielsen overnights. The episode had the second-highest audience out of five installments.
“Honey Boo Boo” took a smaller hit in the adults 18-49 demographic, falling about a tenth of a point to a 1.1 adults rating.
While that’s not a reason for TLC to panic, it’s sure to give the show’s haters some ammunition. The show did beat all individual broadcasts of the Republic National Convention in the key demographic during the 10 p.m. hour.
“Honey Boo Boo” did tie CNN’s coverage of the DNC- including Clinton’s speech- and also syndicated “Big Bang Theory" re-runs. It only trailed NBC’s NFL season opener on all of TV, though the aggregate coverage of the DNC eclipsed “Honey Boo Boo” by all measurements, as the DNC was on for the whole 10 p.m. hour, while “Honey Boo Boo” was only on from 10 to 10:30 p.m.
