GOB and Bride Of GOB splitting up

Amy Poehler & Will Arnett

In a sad development, comedic television stars Amy Poehler and Will Arnett have confirmed that they will be seeking a divorce. Apparently, they were married in 2003 after dating for three years and produced two young sons, three-and-a-half-year-old Archie and two-year-old Abel. Regrettably, the separation means that they will not be adding another son named Cain.

Arnett, 42, currently co-stars on NBC comedy Up All Night with Christina Applegate, while the 40-year-old Poehler is nominated for Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Writing on the peacock network's Parks And Recreation. Arnett is also nominated for a guest role on 30 Rock.

The first couple of TV comedy worked together on FOX's Arrested Development, where Arnett was a main cast member as George Oscar Bluth Jr. (aka GOB) and Poehler played his unnamed "Bride of GOB" in a handful of episodes in 2004 and 2005. This was the first marriage for Poehler, while Arnett was previously married to actress Penelope Ann Miller.

We here at TVRage wish them both the best in their future endeavors.

"I couldn't care less about their relationship"

While I think your comment is a little harsh and I wonder why you wrote this article, feeling as you do, I will at least give you points for using this phrase correctly, when so few others do.  I've never been able to figure out why people have such difficulty with the phrase, but they do.

As to the subject matter itself, I'm sorry to hear they're splitting up.  Any time a marriage ends, it's a sad thing.  Hopefully the split will be amicable.

I thought writing articles like these entailed keeping a neutral point of view. Even though I don't know them personally, I've seen them on talk shows and thought they were a lovely couple and also thought they would endure. Seeing a Hollywood couple who's actually in love and with a relationship that works gives us little people a small spark of hope. Let's face it, just the fact that you know about news like this proves, at least in my mind, that we all like to live a little vicariously.

While I wouldn't necessarily say that I "care" about their personal lives, I will admit to being a bit surprised that they're breaking up, if only because we didn't get months of rumors that they were having trouble and other tabloid nonsense of that nature. Rarely it seems do Hollywood couples just break up like this, without their split being preceeded by a bunch of will they or won't they speculation. Either way, them not being together certainly doesn't make me like them any less as entertainers.
