Simon Cowell furious 'X Factor' and 'Voice' are going head-to-head

NBC and FOX will go to battle next week, as two of the top singing competitions on television go head-to-head.

Along with Monday and Tuesday nights, “The Voice” will stretch to Wednesday, the same night as “X Factor’s” premiere on Fox.

Simon Cowel, who created and is a judge on “X Factor,” told TMZ.com NBC’s decision was “a cynical, cold-hearted, unprofessional  way of doing business” that will make fans pick between the shows. He also said it could reignite a rivalry between Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, who appear on the two shows.

"Britney's not going to appreciate the fact that Christina – who has been a bit of a rival – isn't allowing Britney to have a night of her own," Cowell said.

Cowell said he thinks the move is personal, especially following “Britain’s Got Talent” crushing “The Voice” in the ratings when “The Voice” was moved head-to-head in the United Kingdom.

"These guys have really got it in for us. It's nothing short of dirty tricks."

"The reason they've done this is they don't want people to see X Factor because they've heard how good the series is," he said. "They don't want their audience to see Britney Spears. They don't want their audience to see Demi Lovato."

"rivalry between Christian Aguilera and Britney Spears"

Ahem.  "Christina".  Damn that letter eh, moving around like that!  :-)

As to Cowell, oh boo-hoo.  I guess next week he'll be whining about all the new and returning shows on the other networks that will be "conspiring" to keep their audiences from seeing Britney and Demi.  Tell you what, Cowell, I have some great news for you...*I* won't be watching The Voice.  Of course, with all great news, there's also bad news...I won't be watcing X Factor either!  Damn!  You just can't win, can you Simon? :-)

Cowell is being a baby here. Counter-programming is as old as television. If his show is good, people will watch. If it's not, they'll watch the competition. It's that simple.
