While The CW's horror/drama Supernatural has never had the greatest ratings in the world (although it does do pretty well as far its own network goes), one thing the show has never lacked is an extremely dedicated fanbase, of which I am proud to call myself a member. With little under a month left to go before season eight begins, all us Supernatural followers can now feast our eyes on the very first footage from the new season, in the form of a promo released today by The CW.
The video contains our first glimpses into Dean's time in purgatory, the fate of Castiel, and what the Winchesters' new quest will be following their inevitable reunion. The season will apparently utilize a flashback structure, where each episode focuses half on what the boys are doing in the present, and half on how they spent their time apart. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that aspect yet, but I'm willing to put my trust in the writing staff to do right by the boys. Sam also began a relationship with a new love interest during his brother's absence (note to Sam: she's probably evil), but producers say that it will have ended by the present day timeline, and will only be explored in flashback form.
Without any futher ado, here's the full promo:
Sam and Dean Winchester. On a mission. To close the gates of hell. Forever. This is going to be fun.
You will Matt, that's what the flashbacks are for. :)
