Homeland star rips Criminal Minds

And now, your daily Homeland update.

Mandy Patinkin, who stars on Showtime's Homeland as Saul Berenson, drew some criticism from his abrupt departure from CBS' Criminal Minds. He appeared on it for two seasons before leaving.

To say he is happy to be off the show is an understatement, according to the Huffington Post

"The biggest public mistake I ever made was that I chose to do 'Criminal Minds' in the first place," he said in a New York Magazine interview. "I thought it was something very different. I never thought they were going to kill and rape all these women every night, every day, week after week, year after year. It was very destructive to my soul and my personality. After that, I didn’t think I would get to work in television again."

But, luckily for us, he did. Saul is the mentor to Claire Danes' CIA (?) agent Carrie Mathinson. During his time on the show, he has grown very fond of Danes.

"I as a human being, as an artist, I am there for her. I would die for her," he said. "I tell you, she is one of our great gifts as an artist to be cherished and nurtured and cared for. She is a tremendous gift, and I am one of the privileged people to get to be with her and learn from her every day."

"Homeland" Season 2 debuts on Showtime on Sun., Sept. 30 at 10 p.m. EST.

I actually thought the show got better once he left - it wasn't so focussed on him and his weird moods.

He was hands down the best actor in Criminal Minds. Don't get me wrong, the others aint bad. It's just his performance on the show was beyond steallar. I was really sad when he left Criminal Minds.

To be fair, there is never a bad time for a pic of Morena Baccarin.

again with the picture of Morena Baccarin and no connection to the article. ^^ Seems like somebody has a bunch of pictures of her that "need" to be used ;)

I kind of see it differently. I don't really see him critisizing the show, just the fact that it was a personal trauma for him to do a show with that theme. Granted he might have known a little better before signing on with them, but it feels to me that he wasn't actually putting down the show itself. I can only imagine as an actor how difficult it might be to do this kind of work weekly. As a mom, I love watching L&O SVU, but it can get pretty disturbing at times even if I know the subject matter going in.
