In news that might actually entice me to watch NBC's "Animal Practice," the comedy series has cast the lovely June Diane Raphael in a recurring role for its first season.

"Animal Practice" features Justin Kirk of "Weeds" fame as a jaded veterinarian who loves animals but hates the people that own them. His boss, played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher, brings on board a new veterinarian that is sure to keep Kirk's character on his toes. Raphael joins the show as Dr. Leiter, the accomplished and hard-nosed doctor hired by Swisher's character.
Raphael's past credits span the big and small screen. Currently, she plays a role opposite husband Paul Scheer on the Adult Swim crime procedural spoof series "NTSF:SD:SUV::". She has also appeared in personal favorites "Party Down" and "New Girl" in guest-starring arcs. Additionally, Raphael has lent her talents to screenwriting, penning the script for the 2009 Kate Hudson/Anne Hathaway comedy "Bride Wars."
Finally, for fans of bad movies and podcastery, be sure to check our her bi-monthly podcast series "How Did This Get Made?" on iTunes, where she, Scheer, and "The League"'s Jason Mantzoukas dissect awful movies from "Jaws: The Revenge" to "The Wicker Man."
"Animal Practice" officially premieres September 26th at 8pm EST on NBC.
