Mystery Team assemble! TV Guide reported today that the multi-talented Donald Glover has been pegged to develop a new comedy pilot for his home network NBC.
The project is currently in development with Glover and "30 Rock" producer Matt Hubbard taking writing chores. The series is said to be loosely based on the actor's life, but given that Glover is conquering all media these days who knows what facet of his life will be focused on. Fear not, Troy Barnes fans -- despite the new development being a starring vehicle for the actor, NBC has stated that it would still be "in second position" to the established "Community."
The Hubbard/Glover series is seen as a premium project by the network, with NBC executives reportedly high on Hubbard after he Outstanding Comedy Writing Emmy nominations in 2010 and 2011 and an Emmy win in 2009. Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan are attached as executive producers with Universal Television serving as the studio supporting the pilot.
Glover perhaps most famously portrays Troy Barnes on NBC's "Community." However, the potential future EGOT-er is also notable as a founding member of viral comedy titans Derrick Comedy in addition to flourishing in stand-up with Comedy Central's "Donald Glover: Weirdo" special and hip-hop as Childish Gambino. He also served as writer on "30 Rock" from 2008 through 2009.
