The third season of AMC's zombie drama series The Walking Dead will reach our screens in October. The sixteen-episode season promises to be the drama's most intense yet, with the survivors taking refuge in the prison glimpsed in the final seconds of the season 2 finale. In addition to the threat of the zombies that inhabit the prison, there's also a very living threat -- the Governor (David Morrissey), the despotic leader of the Woodbury community that captures Andrea (Laurie Holden) and Michonne (Danai Gurira).
Some new promotional photos from The Walking Dead season 3 were released on Friday, featuring scenes from both the season premiere, "Seed," as well as some new character portraits featuring all of the remaining survivors from season 2, as well as new additions Michonne and the Governor, and the returning Merle (Michael Rooker), who hasn't been seen in the flesh since the third episode of the series, "Tell It to the Frogs."
You can check out the promo photos (and there are plenty of them) below.
The Walking Dead season 3 will premiere Sunday, October 14 at 9/8c on AMC.
