ABC Family is on a buying spree.

About a month after greenlighting pilots from Jennifer Lopez and Gavin Polone, the network has ordered two comedies and a series based on a Mexican drama.
“Phys Ed” is a half-hour comedy from Prodco Inc. The multi-camera production centers on a star jock who returns to his former high school, and finds that while he has changed, not much else has. Executive producer David H. Steinberg from American Pie 2 wrote the pilot.
“Continuing Fred,” is also a multicamera project from Prodco, Inc. This one involves a newly graduated slacker named Winfred Harris who finds purpose in teaching at a local elementary school, and, what do you know, she has an overbearing family. “Mike & Molly’s” Bill Daly wrote the pilot.
“Terminales” is based on a Mexican drama by Miguel Angel Fox about a young woman’s life after being diagnosed with a terminal illness.
These pilot orders will join J-Lo’s “The Fosters” and Polone’s “Socio” for series contention at ABC Family. “Socio” recently started to shore up its cast. The network also features “Pretty Little Liars,” “The Lying Game,” “Switched at Birth” and “Baby Daddy” as scripted fare on the network.
