FearNet To Begin Showing "Tales From The Crypt" Just In Time For Halloween
Hello boils and ghouls! It's TVRage's resident cryptkeeper here, with some news sure to warm the black hearts of horror lovers everywhere.
Up and coming digtal cable channel/VOD service/horror web portal FearNet has just acquired the exclusive re-run rights to all 93 episodes of fan-favorite anthology series Tales From The Crypt. This marks the show's first return to national airwaves in over five years. Classic Crypt episodes will arrive on the schedule of FearNet's linear cable channel on Friday, October 5th. All seven seasons will be broadcast in their original order, and will air in a two-hour block from 10pm to 12am on that and every subsequent Friday night.
Unfortunately for fans, the episodes shown on the FearNet cable channel will be the versions that have been edited for television, with some explicit nudity and gore from the original HBO airings removed. However, if you have the FearNet channel, you most likely have access to the FearNet On Demand service, which will be showing each and every episode in its complete and uncut form. The first Crypt offerings will appear in the On Demand lineup beginning Wednesday, October 10th.
As someone who grew up watching these twisted tales of mayhem and murder, I am thrilled that FearNet has made this move. It's been many years since I've seen most of these episodes, and I'd wager that the same is true for many of those reading this. I can't wait to take a nostalgic trip back to the Crypt.
Does FearNet stand a ghost of a chance of getting you to watch Tales From The Crypt? Or should this rotting corpse stay buried in the TV cemetery?
