Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for president, has had a rough few days. But maybe a little glimmer of hope is on the way.
One of the co-hosts of ABC's The View, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, read a statement from the Romney campaign on Wednesday's broadcast, which said the Romney and his wife would “love to once more join the sharp-tongued chatter (on the View) in October.”
More "secret" footage of Romney was released Tuesday of Romney, in which he called the show risky.
“The View is fine. Although The View is high risk because of the five women on it, only one is conservative (Hasselbeck), and four are sharp-tongued and not conservative. Whoopi Goldberg in particular," Romney said. "Although last time I was on the show, she said, 'You know what? I think I could vote for you.' And I said, I must have done something really wrong."
Sherri Shepherd, one of the View co-hosts, had a field day with those comments.
“If you can’t handle four sharp-tongued women, how are you going to handle the country,” Shepherd she asked on air.
Barbara Walter, ever the broadcast journalists, said she would love to have the Romneys on and that she knew Mitt could handle their tough questions.
Romney also said in the video he would not host Saturday Night Live because it had the potential of "looking slapstick and not presidential."
I'm sure we will be seeing a whole bunch of "Mitt Romney" on SNL this week, though.
