The BBC has created 4
teaser trailers for Sherlock series 2. Each contains an anagram of the phrase, “Sherlock Holmes”. The clips reveal scenes from episodes featuring Moriarty and the Hound of the Baskervilles. The other story that has been revealed is their take on Scandal in Bohemia, which features famous Sherlock love interest Irene Adler. The shows seems more ambitious this time around taking on three of the most well-known Holmes stories.
Again the series comes on the coat tails of another Holmes, Robert Downy Jr. Guy Ritchie’s tale is set in the same time period as the original novels. Like many of his films most of the attention is paid on the action. Moffat and Ritchie have both stated in individual interviews that they believe that their interpretation is the truest. Without any doubt we can say Holmes has become the
most frequently played literary character in movie history.
Unfortunately for the US, the BBC’s production won’t be coming our way until May. PBS will be airing the show. Each one will be 90 minutes long, but the series will only contain three episodes. The last episode to air is based on The Final Problem and hopefully it won’t be the last. There is no word yet on a third series. Martin Freeman’s commitment to filming the Hobbit trilogy may interfere with future filming .
Can you wait until May for the next Sherlock Holmes series?
