Glee relives Britney Spears' saga

Has Glee come a little too close to biting the hands that feed it? Maybe, after this week's Britney Spears tribute episode.

The series covered Spears in Season 2, in a positive way. It focused on Spears' accomplishments, by recreating her breakout "Baby, One More Time" video and her famous duet with Madonna "Me Against the Music." 

This time around, the episode focused on Spears' downward spiral. Brittany (Heather Morris) first tried to shave her head, using the "logic" that "if I can't have a high pony, I don't want hair at all." Luckily, she was stopped before she went all the way through with it.

But then Brittany, a fifth-year senior, went on a rampage in the McKinley High School halls when she saw another student with a large umbrella.

Brittany recreated Spears' "Gimme More" MTV Video Music Award performance. And not in a flattering way. Brittany went off the rails, not even attempting to sing live or dance in tune with the rest of the performers.

Eventually, it was revealed that Brittany was trying to self-destruct just so she could rise above the ashes like a phoenix. Brittany said about her idol, "No matter what happened to her, she just came back stronger."
