This Sunday night sees the third season premiere of HBO's New Orleans set drama Treme. Seasons 1&2 were met with nearly universal acclaim by critics, and was renewed for a third year despite less than amazing ratings. That said, ratings are very rarely concurrent with the quality of a program, and the show has garnered a very positive response from those audiences that have taken the time to check it out.
If you're unaware, Treme was created by "The Wire" mastermind David Simon, and veteran TV producer Eric Overmyer, who also worked on The Wire. The show takes its name from a New Orleans neighborhood, and follows the lives of residents from all walks of life as they try to rebuild both their city and their own lives after 2005's catastrophic hit from Hurricane Katrina. Production takes place in New Orleans itself, and the city has come to embrace the series as a solid representation of what it's like to live and work in one of America's most unique communities.
To whet your appetite for the series' latest go-around, HBO has released two new videos to get fans back in that New Orleans state of mind. The first is a recap of season two, to get everyone caught up with how the show got to this point:
The second is a behind the scenes look at the making of a scene from season three:
And just for fun, here's the previously released official trailer for season three:
Will you be tuning in for the return of Treme?
