The rocker who left Fox’s “American Idol” after last season is certainly not keeping mum.
Steven Tyler told Yahoo! Music that had he not quit, he probably would’ve gotten fired anyway. He said he wasn’t sure where he stood, and eventually said “It just don’t feel right. I’m quittin’ now.”
Tyler said he first considered the Idol job after a falling out (and off of a stage) with Aerosmith. He said after the injuries sustained in South Dakota, the band didn’t visit him in the hospital or call him.
"I would have done stupid s*** like that and it would have been over. But when you're high on the drugs I was on at the time...which was Lumesta and stupid stuff just to be able to go on tour, because I had some feet operations and I couldn't walk...I was totally blown out of the water by the fact that I might not be able to be in Aerosmith again. You guys, if you suddenly couldn't use your you-know-what again, where would you go with that? That's how it was, literally. So I went on the drugs that I thought I could. They put me on these drugs, and I'm a drug addict/alcoholic--I can't be on any. But one of the real unknown secrets to this new album's success is that we're not all like that now: f***ed up and on drugs."
Let's hope he was being facetious about that last part. Aerosmith’s new album “Music From Another Dimension” come out Nov. 6, and the band will also hit the road.
