Oprah Winfrey is returning to television on January 1 with “Oprah’s Next Chapter.“ The show will take an indepth look at some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities. American Idol’s Steven Tyler is the first to open up to the talk show queen. After releasing his autobiography “Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?” the rocker opened up about drug use, sexual history and the struggles he faced being a celebrity.
In the book, Tyler discusses everything from cocaine use to homosexual experiences, all while touring with his band, Aerosmith. Nothing is off limits, even when sitting down with Oprah. Throughout his life, Steven Tyler’s been through two marriages, with four children from three different women. Though womanizing is considered part of the rockstar cliché, this rocker is not proud of his past.
"There was some behavior I am ashamed of and I shouldn't have done,” Tyler said. "I don't want to hurt anybody again. For all the divorces I've had I've hurt those girls deeply." The Aerosmith front man started dating Aerosmith account Erin Brady in 2006, she knew she was the girl who could change his womanizing ways. She saw him at his best and worst, but knew she could reform him.
"I saw him, how he behaved… badly," she told Oprah. Her tactic? Any time he strayed she’d “play,” too. He told Oprah that this was just what he needed to open his eyes and be loyal to his girlfriend. The couple is still together, and a tamer Tyler learned new ways to enjoy life with his lady love.
“Oprah’s Next Chapter” airs January 1 on OWN.
