Are you excited for season four of AMC's The Walking Dead? Wait a second, season three has not even begun yet!
Yet, AMC still launched a contest today that offered a chance for the winner to visit The Walking Dead Season 4 set - interesting, given the show hasn't been renewed beyond the forthcoming third season yet.
Counting their eggs before they are hatched, perhaps?
An AMC spokesman said that the fourth season has not been ordered yet, but let us be real about this. It is going to happen, as the show is cable's No. 1 scripted drama in several key demographics.
The season two premiere broke basic-cable records in the adults 18-49 and 25-54 demo, with the season finale breaking the new record as well. You would have to imagine that AMC got tired of having all that extra money sitting around - that is the only possible thing that could keep Rick and crew from coming back again.
AMC has a history of spoiling The Walking Dead. An ad in March revealed that a bonus feature on the DVD/Blu Ray talked about "Shane's last episode." Oops!
The Walking Dead's third season returns Sunday, Oct. 14 at 9 p.m. EST.
I, for one, can't wait.
I hope this show goes on for years. There just aren't enough zombies on TV today. However, while the series could march on for while (and it'd be interesting to see the long term effects of a zombie apocalypse) I hope they ultimately have an endgame in mind. A lot of zombie media depict hellscapes, but none have really shown the light at the end of the tunnel - or something close to it.
