Christopher Guest is going into the well one more time, drawing a bunch of his frequent collaborators together in his upcoming HBO documentary-style comedy series Family Tree.
Fred Willard, Michael McKean and Ed Begley Jr. have all climbed aboard in recurring roles. Don Lake has also signed on for a guest gig.
The series will focus on Tom Chadwick (played by Bridesmaids' Chris O'Dowd), a 30-year-old who loses his job and girlfriend and begins looking into his family's heritage after receiving a mysterious box from an inheritance from a great aunt he never met. Unsure of who he is, he comes to find ususual stories and people who are part of who he and his real family are.Begley will play Tom's Uncle Andy, Willardwill play Andy's neighbor, Mike and McKean will play Tom's father, Keith. Lake will play a friend of Tom's cousin.
Begley, Willard and McKean are regular participants in Guest's mockumentary feature films. All three have appeared in For Your Consideration, A Mighty Wind, Best in Show and This is Spinal Tap.
Lake has appeared in all but This is Spinal Tap.
HBO picked up Family Tree straight to series in August, ordering eight episodes of the single-camera half-hour effort, which will air simultaneously on the BBC2 in the U.K.
