A stage and screen veteran will soon appear on CBS’ “The Good Wife.”
Stockard Channing will guest star in at least one episode of the legal drama.
She will play Alicia Florrick’s (played by Julianna Margulies) mother. The character is said to be heavily influenced (is that under the influence?) of ’60’s counterculture.
Many guest stars for this season of “The Good Wife” have already been announced. They include Kristen Chenowith, Nathan Lane, Maura Tierney, Marc Warren, Amanda Peet, Christina Ricci and Miriam Shor. TV political talk show host Bill Maher will also be on as himself.
Channing was last seen on the small screen as First Lady Abbey Bartlett on “The West Wing,” though she also did a voice on “The Cleveland Show” in 2009. She was also in “Grease” in 1978, the 1980 “The Stockard Channing Show” and “Six Degrees of Separation” in 1993. She was nominated for an Academy Award for “Six Degrees of Separation.”
“The Good Wife” also stars Christine Baranski, Josh Charles and Archie Panjabi. Marguiles’ character in the show is a wife and mother who re-enters the workforce after her husband scandalously lands in jail.
Season four of “The Good Wife” begins Sunday at 9 p.m., 8 central time.
