Well, here's a story I never expected to be reporting when I woke up this morning. Former Sons Of Anarchy star Johnny Lewis (Kip "Half-Sack" Epps) has not only been found dead at the young age of 28, but is now the prime suspect in the murder of an elderly woman that police found at the scene.
Lewis was apparently renting a room from 81-year-old Katherine Davis, who is believed to have died from blunt force trauma to the head. Investigators say that Lewis most likely beat the woman to death. A neighbor and a handyman responded to the woman's screams, but were both attacked by Lewis as he exited the home. The two men are said to have been beaten pretty badly. Lewis then climbed up to the roof of the house, but it's unclear whether he jumped or fell off. Either way, he was found dead in the driveway.
I obtained pieces of this information from different reports, which I'll link at the bottom of the article. Admittedly, some of the stories do contradict each other in places, so I wouldn't be surprised if the details changed at least a small amount in the coming days. As is usual for an in-progress investigation, Los Angeles police have yet to officially confirm how everything went down. Some outlets are claiming that Lewis was on various drugs such as PCP at the time he committed the murder, but this appears to still be speculation at this point.
This is truly a bizarre story. Lewis never really had any kind of bad reputation, doesn't have a shady past (at least to my knowledge), and his neighbors describe him as a nice, friendly guy. Then again, I guess it usually is the people you would least suspect of doing grisly acts, that end up with their pictures next to news headlines like these. How sad that things ended up like this, especially for poor Katherine Davis.
