Homeland Season 2 Promo Provides a Look at Upcoming Episodes
The Emmy-winning Showtime series Homeland returned triumphantly for its second season on Sunday night with the premiere episode "The Smile," which saw Carrie (Claire Danes) pulled out of retirement from the CIA to help seek out information about a new attack on the United States from one of her sources in Beirut. Carrie, though initially reluctant to return to the profession that burned her so badly next season, gave the episode's titular smile after a strenuous chase, meaning that she intends to be back in the spy game for good.
The next episode of Homeland, "Beirut Is Back," airs next Sunday, and a new promo that aired after the season premiere reveals what's next for both that episode and the series as a whole.
Carrie's still on the run, dodging bullets throughout Beirut, much to the dismay of her CIA handlers. "You were supposed to be with her the whole time, keep her on a short leash!" David Estes tells Saul as Carrie runs for her life.
Meanwhile, Brody's life becomes more and more chaotic, with him killing a man on a rainy night in the woods and even returning to the store where he procured the bomb vest last season and requesting to have a bag packed, "fast."
Could that be because his secret's been found out? It certainly seems likely, especially with several people -- even Brody's former best friend Mike -- beginning to suspect that Brody's up to something. "Brody's acting weird, and he has been ever since he got back," he says.
And what about Brody dousing himself with gasoline? Is he going for self-immolation? Will the walls really close in on Brody that quickly? I can't wait to find out.
You can check out the promo below. "Beirut Is Back" airs next Sunday, October 7, on Showtime.
