One would think a series about a top-secret government agency wouldn't leak news almost every week its in development, but as a fan I'm happy to forward these nuggets of information onto you, dear reader!
The latest news is a list of five main characters for the show, with descriptions that should give an idea of the type of dynamic viewers can expect to see. None of the characters have appeared in previous Marvel films or comics, which is in keeping with what "The Avengers" writer/director Joss Whedon hinted at in a recent MTV interview of making the series stand on its own with only marginal all-star support.
Here's who we can expect to meet once the show kicks off:
- Agent Grant Ward is described as a manly-man in his early 30s, great at his job but not too good at getting along with his peers in the agency. May I suggest Tahmoh Penikett, who essentially played a similar role in Whedon's "Dollhouse" series?
- Skye sounds like the typical Whedon woman -- "bubbly and goofy" but "also warm, edgy and witty." Late 20s and adaptable to numerous situations. Though she's a little older for the role, I would think this is tailor-made for Whedon stalwart Amy Acker.
- Agent Althea Rice. With a nickname like "The Cavalry," you can kind of guess this character's personality type. Rice is both an ace pilot and weapons expert, still mentally scarred from experiences in combat.
-Agents Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons, collectively known as "Fitz-Simmons" since the partners are practically attached at the hi. Both are in their late 20s, described as nerdy yet attractive, bickering like brother and sister. Fitz' specialty is in weapons, gadgets and cutting edge technology while Simmons specializes in life science of the human and alien variety.
Who actors do you think would be a good fit for the roles above?
