If you've been missing Drea De Matteo, stalk no further. The actress best known for her role as long-suffering mob girlfriend Adriana La Cerva on HBO's The Sopranos has signed on to star in the Lifetime original movie Stalkers.
Based on a true story from a book by criminal prosecutor Rhonda Saunders called Whisper of Fear: The True Story of the Prosecutor Who Stalks the Stalkers, the made-for-television film will also serve as a backdoor pilot that could be made into a weekly series. De Matteo will star as Diane Harper, a hot-headed cop with a troubled past who joins forces with a polished district attorney to take down a stalker obsessed with her former lover.
Produced by Pilgrim Studios and executive produced by Craig Piligian, Stalkers was written by David Wiener (Last Resort) and will be directed by Mark Tonderai, who helmed the recently released horror flick House At The End Of The Street.
In 2004, De Matteo won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and was also nominated for a Golden Globe as a result of her performance on The Sopranos. Most recently, she had recurring roles on FX's Sons Of Anarchy and ABC's Desperate Housewives.
Ahh, another former HBO crush of mine, and a great actress to boot. Are you looking forward to seeing Drea De Matteo on your TV again?
