Justified Casts Patton Oswalt for Season 4

FX's "Justified" continues to be the most must-see series on television today, and once again knocked a little casting out of the park. Comedian Patton Oswalt will join the population of Harlan for a recurring role in season four of the crime drama series.

Patton Oswalt

Oswalt's character, Bob Sweeney, will be a former high school classmate of Timothy Olyphant's Marshal Rayland Givens. Sweeney now enjoys employment as a constable who Raylan entrusts to look after his father's house while Arlo is serving his prison sentence. Look for the two to team up on a few cases as well, as the season premiere sees Sweeney and Givens banding together to track down a fugitive.

As funny as Oswalt is (certainly in my top ten stand-up comedians at the moment), his more dramatic work has been quite good as well. In addition to guest roles on "Caprica" and "Dollhouse," he showed some damn fine acting chops in the Charlize Theron/Diablo Cody flick "Young Adult" and the disturbing "Big Fan." I would imagine given Givens' history with people from his past, Bob will likely have some creepy edge to him.

The new season of "Justified" will start filming later this month for a premiere in early 2013. No word on whether Oswalt will ask Givens to join him for dinner at KFC...

I don't know... I guess I'm sorta supposed to be the target audience for that, but I'm not: I don't eat at kfc and I'm not aware of their ... bowls? So, yeah, that wasn't too funny, but not cringe-inducing, either... I guess I'm still not getting the levels of antipathy - he has better stuff, certainly, but possibly some that's worst. No big surprises, either way.

@Anonypuss: Did you even click on that little clip of the KFC routine? That alone has to be one of the dumbest diatribes any one has ever heard! I can't speak for his acting abilities, but as far as comedy is concerned, he has had one or two moments but most of his stuff is boring and tedious.

I am not familiar with a KFC routine, but am a fan of Oswalt's comedic as well as dramatic work. This is good news, as far as I'm concerned. Frankly, I'm not sure where the vitriol from the first commentator is coming from or based on...

I for one love Patton's standup, but to be fair, there are few things in this world more subjective than comedy.

You're kidding, right? You think this Bozo is funny?? Please! I think you're funny bone has been cracked or gone numb. I sure hope that this pitiful routine about KFC is not this clowns best, 'cause if it is, Justified will drop in the ratings for sure and certain.
