In a surprising twist of fate, NBC has emerged as the winner of premiere week.
The main reason? Sunday Night Football, which was also last season's strongest network performer. Led by it, NBC had four of the top 10 broadcasts in the adults 18-49 demo. The game, as well as its accompanying Football Night in America and two broadcasts of The Voice all landed in the top ten last week.
NBC's demo average beat its closest competitor, Fox, by 12 percent. This win was NBC's first premiere week victory in nine years and its strongest premiere week in four.
Other strong ratings included Revolution (3.4 adults rating), Go On (2.6 adults rating), The Office (2.1 adults rating) and New Normal (2.0 adults rating). Where you at, Parks and Recreation?
Fox took the silver, thanks to The X Factor (3.4 and 3.2 adults ratings), The Simpsons (3.8 adults rating) and New Girl (two broadcasts posting 2.8 adults ratings) The network averaged a 2.6 rating with adults 18-49.
CBS rounded out the top three with The Big Bang Theory (5.0 adults rating), NCIS (4.1 adults rating) and 2 Broke Girls (3.7 adults rating) as the strongest demo performers. The network finished with a 2.4 rating with the demo and the week's best average among total viewers, 10.7 million.
ABC was on the outside looking in.
To celebrate, NBC said that it was going to green light 40 new shows and then cancel 30 of them.
