SyFy Picks Up 'Primeval: New World'

SyFy has added another series to its growing line-up of acquisitions. "Primeval: New World," the spin-off series of "Primeval," is set to premiere on Canada's SPACE network in late October and the stateside cable network has added it to their 2013 lineup.

The spin-off transplants the premise of the original UK "Primeval" series to great white north. A team of scientists is tasked with investigating and battling creatures and people who travel through time via anomalies.

“This fast-paced entertaining and smart series will delight fans of the original program as well as introduce new viewers to this fascinating world,” said Chris Regina, Senior Vice President of Programming at SyFy.

The new series stars Niall Matter of "Eureka," Sara Canning from "The Vampire Diaries" and Danny Rahim of "Young James Herriot." Filming wrapped in mid-July and will premiere first in Canada on October 29th before making its way to SyFy early next year.

“We’re thrilled to be continuing our relationship with Syfy in securing another action drama with the network,” said Jon Ferro, Senior Vice President, Program Sales, eOne. “'Primeval: New World' has a great cast, solid story-telling and state of the art special effects - all the right elements to make it a success that fits right in with Syfy’s stellar line up.”

Since Primeval: New World has been cancelled by SPACE does that spell the demise of the show being shown on SyFy in the US? I can't see SyFy showing it and leaving it on a cliff hanger. Well, yes I can but it would be in very bad form to do it.. again.
