A star on “Victorious” has landed the lead on an ABC Family drama pilot.

Avan Jogia was cast in “Socio,” an hourlong project from Gavin Polone, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jogia plays Danny, who is “likable, brash, sexy and charismatic." He joins Maddie Hasson and Kylie Bunbury on the cast.
Jogia appeared as Beck Oliver on Nickelodeon’s “Victorious” along with star Victoria Justice. He has also appeared on “iCarly” and “Caprica.”
In “Socio,” Danny is a convicted murderer who killed his aunt five years earlier, and was recently released from custody. Danny says he had reasoning for the murder, which he has not yet revealed. When he returns to his hometown to attend high school and reconnects with his two female best friends, a fellow student is murdered and he becomes the prime suspect.
Adam Milch (“Greek”) wrote the pilot and will co-executive produce alongside Palone. Prodco, Inc is producing the pilot.
Palone’s “Jane by Design” was recently canceled after one season.
Along with “Socio,” ABC Family has ordered several pilots. They include “The Fosters” from Jennifer Lopez, and “Terminales,” which is an adaptation of a Mexican series on Televisa. “Pretty Little Liars,” “Switched at Birth” and “The Lying Game” have also been renewed.
