The infamous anti-gay group One Million Moms has set its sights on a series that has yet to even get into production. TV Rage previously reported on Jennifer Lopez and ABC Family's deal to bring "The Fosters" to the cable network.
The in-development series would revolve around a lesbian couple with a multi-ethnic family of biological and adopted children. Lopez will serve as producer of the series which is created by Bradley Bredeweg and "Queer as Folk"'s Peter Paige.
In a posting to its website imploring its members' to take action, the group wrote, "Hollywood is continuing to push an agenda that homosexuality is acceptable when scripture states clearly it is a sin. As Christians, the Bible also says that we must speak up against sin. If we remain silent then we are guilty of sin also."
The pro-family Christian fundamentalist group seemed to take issue in particular with the program airing on ABC Family. "ABC Family reported the comedy-drama pilot, working with the title The Fosters, is about two women raising a '21st century,' multi-ethnic mix of foster and biological kids. While foster care and adoption is a wonderful thing and the Bible does teach us to help orphans, this program is attempting to redefine marriage and family by having two moms raise these children together. One Million Moms is not sure how the explanation will be given on how the biological children were conceived. None of this material is acceptable content for a family show."
Have any of these protests worked? This group seems more well-known for the ridiculousness of their issues, like protesting Skittles for a commercial that features a woman making out with a walrus.
