Casting news today as FX continues to build their new series "The Bridge," naming Demian Bichir ("Weeds") as the series male lead.
The series is adapted from the Scandinavian series "I Bron" and revolves around a pair of detectives, one American and one Mexican, who team up to track down a serial killer with victims north and south of the border. The adaptation is being handled by "Homeland" producer Meredith Stiehm and "Hawaii Five-0"'s Elwood Reid.
Bichir has been cast as Mexican Detective Marco Ruiz and joins American Detective Sonya North played by Diane Kruger ("Inglourious Basterds" and "National Treasure"). The two detectives live in different worlds, with Kruger's North a workaholic loner in contrast to Ruiz's likable family man.
Joining Bichir will be Ted Levine and Annabeth Gish. Gish ("Mystic Pizza", "Pretty Little Liars") will play a wealthy ranch owner's widow named Charlotte Millwright, whose husband's sudden death may play a part in the investigation.
Veteran character actor Levine ("Monk", "Silence Of The Lambs") will portray Lt. Hank Wade, a good ol' boy veteran cop and supervisor of Kruger's character.
So far this looks to be an impressive cast, and would fit right in with FX's other quality crime drama series "Justified" and "Sons of Anarchy."
