They say that blondes have more fun. Well, these blondes also have a put pilot commitment from FOX.
Preparing for life after The Office, Angela Kinsey has co-created and will co-star in a new comedy that ignited a bidding war among multiple networks, with FOX emerging victorious.
Entitled Dirty Blondes, the project is based on the real life long-time friendship between Kinsey and co-star/co-creator Rachael Harris, who have been close friends since they met at the Los Angeles Groundlings improv theater early in their careers. The series will focus on two women, played by Harris and Kinsey, who have been friends for 16 years and find themselves growing closer after they both get divorced.
Written by co-creator Stacy Traub (Glee, Spin City), Dirty Blondes will be directed by Ruben Fleischer, best known for helming the hit horror-comedy film Zombieland. Traub previously worked with Harris on the 2007 ABC comedy Notes From The Underbelly, which was created by Traub and co-starred Harris.
In addition to Zombieland, Fleischer has also directed 30 Minutes Or Less and Gangster Squad, scheduled for release early next year. His attachment to Dirty Blondes stems from a two-year deal he signed with 20th Century Fox Television in July.
An original cast member on NBC's The Office in the role of uptight accountant Angela Martin, Kinsey also appears in commercials for Clairol hair products and started her career as an intern on Late Night With Conan O'Brien. She is the second Office cast member to line up a new project, after Rainn Wilson signed on for the planned Dwight Schrute spinoff called The Farm.
Most famous for her role in 2009's The Hangover, Harris appeared in a second-season episode of ABC's Modern Family and recently had a recurring part on FOX's New Girl.
Part of me was hoping that Angela would follow Dwight to The Farm, but it looks like their storyline on The Office has run its course and that won't be happening. I like both of these ladies and wish them well with Dirty Blondes. Also, I really enjoy typing Dirty Blondes.
