Debra Messing the star of Smash has split from her husband, Daniel Zelman, the executive producer of
Damages havr split after 11 years of marriage. The couple, who have one child together, separated earlier this year according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The actress, who will next be on our screens with NBC's midseason entry Smash while Zelman co-created and executive produced DirecTV's Damages, announced their split via a representative of Messing just before Christmas.
Her statement read that "Debra Messing and Daniel Zelman privately separared earlier this year after a 10 year marriage. The decision was mutual and they remain supportive of one another and committed to raising their son as a family."
The couple originally met in the 1990s while students at NYU's graduate school and they have been married since September 3rd 2000. They have one child, a 7-year-old son named Roman Walker Zelman.
Daniel Zelman's credits include the Matthew McConaghey and Kate Hudson movie Fool's Gold while Messing is best known for her role on Will & Grace. Smash will follow the making of a Broadway musical which is based on the life of Marilyn Monroe and will also star Katharine McPhee, Anjelica Huston, Brian D'Arcy James, Jaime Cepero and Raz Jaffrey with it premiering at 10 p.m on February 6th.
Zelman was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series alongside Todd A. Kessler and Glen Kessler for their work on the Damages pilot episode "Get Me A Lawyer."
