Primetime Ratings, Saturday, 10/13/12 & Sunday, 10/14/12

The Mentalist

Notes: The reliably stagnant Saturday night ratings saw ABC once again emerge victorious in both the demos and total viewer races, this time with a NASCAR race instead of a college football game.

NBC won Sunday in both the demos and total viewers, on the back of Sunday Night Football, film at eleven. FOX also aired sports programming this week, with an MLB Playoff game taking the place of thier usual Animation Domination lineup.

In non-sports offerings, America's Funniest Home Videos dropped 7%, and Once Upon A Time dropped an additional 12%, following a big drop last week. While it's certainly way too early to say that OUAT is losing fans, these drops continue to support my recommendation that the other networks stop putting scripted series up against sports. It just doesn't seem to be feasible this year. Every Sunday show that was doing well last year is down big time this year. But I digress. Revenge actually rose 4%, but is still coming in below what the first season drew. 666 Park Avenue dropped again in week 3, and I'd say it has officially entered a race with The Mob Doctor to become the second cancellation of the season.

On CBS, 60 Minutes took a sizable hit, while The Amazing Race came in even with last week. The Good Wife matched last week's numbers, but they were already really bad, so feel free to make of that what you will. We finally got some good news for fans of The Mentalist, as the show went up 25% from last Sunday's series low. It will still need to keep rebounding though, if it wants to survive to see next fall.
