"Look cool and moody!"
British mega-hit series "Misfits" is returning for its long-awaited fourth season, and a teaser trailer released today shows a couple of new faces with the same tongue-in-cheek humor.

The series revolves around a mysterious storm which bestows strange superheroic powers on residents of a British community. In particular, five probationary workers are forced to come to terms with their new-found (and often unwelcome) powers, reluctantly using them for the greater good even if they kill a few people along the way. It combines salty British street humor with some genuine pathos, heartfelt characters, and exciting storylines. The series featured an off-season cast shake-up, with several regular castmembers leaving the show while new faces join the fray.
In the UK, the series has garnered consistently high ratings and great critical acclaim, winning the 2010 British Academy of Film and Television Arts award for Best Drama Series and Best Supporting Actress for Lauren Socha (who plays mind-reader Kelly). Since its third season, new episodes and previous season episodes have been available in the US on Hulu and Hulu Plus, where it's garnered good numbers and ranks as one of the streaming-service's most watched series.
"Misfits" has been a personal favorite of mine for some time, one of those series I think would be huge stateside if it had a cable network outlet rather than the limited viewership of Hulu. Not that there's anything wrong with Hulu, numbers-wise it just holds a fraction of the audience of cable and broadcast television.
The new season should be a great jumping on point for new viewers with so many brand-new characters being introduced into the series' universe. Shameless self-promotion time: yours truly will be handling episode reviews when the new season starts up! I would say if you ranked the sci-fi thriller "Attack The Block" as one of your favorite films last year, "Misfits" would be right up your alley.
