Fringe 5.04 "The Bullet That Saved the World" Promo

Fringe's fifth and final season will continue a week from Friday with the fourth episode, "The Bullet That Saved the World." The episode looks to be an exciting one, especially when you consider that it will feature the long-awaited return of Lance Reddick's Phillip Broyles, who last appeared in the season 4 finale.

The last we saw of Broyles, he was reluctantly working for Observer police chief Windmark, having survived the invasion. He's about twenty years older, and there's no telling just how he's changed in the time since the Observers invaded. In fact, the synopsis hints that he might be a potential threat to our heroes:"When the Fringe team tracks a lead into a hostile and heavily guarded location, Phillip Broyles resurfaces...but can he be trusted?"

While I'm inclined to think that he ultimately is trustworthy, I'm sure the episode will play with our perceptions of him a little bit before proving it either way.

A new promo for the episode reveals Peter experiencing some doubt about the resistance movement, leading to the team adopting a new strategy -- using Fringe science against the Observers. "It's time we created a few Fringe cases of our own," Walter remarks, causing pretty much every fan of the series to pump their fist in happiness.

The promo promises that their new successes against the Observers will come at a cost, though -- "You never know when to give up," Windmark remarks, holding Etta in a precarious position. A bomb then goes off in the steam vents of Harvard, throwing Peter forward. Could the Fringe team be taking some losses already?

"The Bullet That Saved the World" will air Friday, October 26, on FOX. Watch the promo for the episode below.
