British actor, comedian, and writer Stephen Fry is set to narrate the story behind the development of mankind.
Well, for UK audiences anyway. Josh Brolin is set to narrate the US version of the "Mankind: The Story of All of Us" documentary series. And here I was all excited to hear Fry's silky smooth voice describe the history of the world as we know it. This is the reason the internet was invented, people.
The actor said in an official statement, "Just when you thought you knew it all, along comes a fantastic series, which throws a whole new and surprising light on the events that shaped our survival on this planet. I’m delighted to be part of such an exciting and epic project that explores through geology, astronomy, meteorology and physics the forces of nature that have shaped the story of mankind.”
Fry will narrate the 12-part series which premieres in the UK on November 14th. The unique documentary will combine film, CGI and other means to recreate significant points in human history, mulling over the questions of how our species survived and evolved against unbeatable odds.
“'Mankind: The Story of All of Us' will redefine history – the series takes a completely new look at who we are and where we came from,” said production company Nutopia CEO Jane Root. “I believe it will fundamentally change the way we view the world forever. Who better to take viewers on this spectacular journey of exploration than the multi-talented Stephen Fry, who has a thirst for knowledge, science and discovery that is infectious and unrivaled.”
