Back in August, FOX picked up six more scripts for Bob's Burgers currently running third season. Today, the network took things a step further, and picked up the show for a full 22 episode fourth season.
The Loren Bouchard created animated comedy about a family owned and operated hamburger restaurant has never been a huge ratings draw, but the fanbase it does have is quite passionate. More importantly for the show's future, "Bob's" appears to have fans within the FOX executive pool as well.
FOX Chairman Kevin Reilly offered the following comments - "We love Bob’s. We are really proud of the way the show has grown over the past three seasons – without losing the unique voice at its core – and we know that the best is yet to come for Bob’s Burgers and its fans."
To the show's credit, this year's ratings have seen improvement, although this is due in large part to the show now being sandwiched between heavy hitters The Simpsons and Family Guy on the Sunday night schedule. "Bob's" was also nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program this year, but unfortunately it lost out to The Penguins of Madagascar of all shows. Well, nobody ever claimed that the Emmy results always make sense.
Is your mouth watering at the thought of more Bob's Burgers? Or should Bob just hang up his spatula and retire?
