The Following: New Trailer for FOX's Midseason Serial Killer Series Released
One of the most promising shows slated to premiere at midseason is the new FOX series The Following. The series will star Kevin Bacon as former FBI agent Ryan Hardy, who is forced to come out of retirement to help hunt down escaped serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy), who has begun to amass a following of likeminded serial killers. The show looks like a surprisingly dark outing for a network series, with plenty of dark imagery and some scenes that look like they could potentially be pretty graphic. It's not going to be one for the faint of heart.
The show also looks promising because of its rather great cast: Kevin Bacon is of course a solid actor, while British actor James Purefoy showed his rather fantastic stripes in the British series Injustice last year. The show also stars Justified's Natalie Zea as Carroll's ex-wife (with whom Hardy had an affair), while LOST's Maggie Grace plays survivor Dr. Sarah Fuller. Shawn Ashmore (X-Men) also plays an FBI agent. And that's not even mentioning the fact that the series is created by Kevin Williamson, writer of the four Scream films and creator Dawson's Creek (he also co-created The Vampire Diaries).
A new trailer for the month of October has been released by FOX to promote the series. It features a lot of previously-seen footage, but there's a lot more here, too, including a rather interesting scene in which a woman, covered head-to-toe in writing, apparently kills herself. Apparently, Carroll likes poetry, evoking the likes of Edgar Allan Poe in his killing by scrawling "Nevermore" on the walls in blood. You know, in case you'd forgotten that the show was macabre.
The Following will premiere in January. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments section. Will you be tuning into the series when it starts?
Another yes for me, however January seems to far away. Also is it wrong somehow that if I had to choose death by serial killing, I'd choose James Purefoy...definitely not mind seeing his face as my last image.. Yumm! ;o)
