Last Friday night brought us the end of Strike Back's second season, but fear not action/adventure fans, as Cinemax is about to bring you an all new dose of both. Tonight at 10pm EST is the premiere of Hunted, an espionage thriller from former X-Files writer/producer Frank Spotnitz.
The beautiful Melissa George stars as Sam Hunter, a secret agent for a shady private intelligence firm, who suddenly finds her world shaken after a botched attempt on her life. To make matters worse, the hit may have been orchestrated by her own co-workers. Sam's new mission is to find out why she was targeted and by whom, all while trying to figure out who within the agency she can trust.
To whet your appetite, here are two clips from the premiere. The first is full of action, the second is a conversation scene that gives those only familiar with George from her American work an opportunity to sample her British accent. Which still isn't her natural one, as she's an Aussie. It never ceases to amaze me how most non-American actors can effortlessly do other accents, while Americans tend to struggle with them.
Also, here's the official synopsis for the episode:
"Sam Hunter (Melissa George), an operative for the elite private intelligence and security firm Byzantium, is finishing a mission in Tangier when an attempt on her life leaves her critically injured. Not knowing who tried to kill her, she disappears to a remote location to recover, regroup and retrain. Returning to work unannounced nearly a year later, Sam surprises her co-workers, who are suspicious about her disappearance, especially Aidan Marsh (Adam Rayner), her secret lover. Her bosses, Rupert Keel (Stephen Dillane) and Deacon Crane (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), retain doubts about her, but need their best agent for an important new assignment. The team devises a plan to have Sam infiltrate a family headed by powerful millionaire Jack Turner (Patrick Malahide), a man with a criminal past whose ambitions are at odds with Byzantium’s secret client."
