Though she’s scheduled to appear again on this final season of NBC's “The Office,” Mindy Kaling has successfully moved on.
Kaling’s “The Mindy Project” on Fox has gotten an order for two more episodes, which brings the season to 24.
The show, which Kaling co-created, writes, produces and stars in, recently pulled a 1.9 ratings in adults 18-49.
“Mindy” will be preempted Oct. 23 by “X Factor,” and will be again Nov. 6 (election night), so the show should have enough fresh episodes for awhile.
“The Mindy Project” also stars Chris Messina, Ed Weeks and Anna Camp. Kaling stars as Mindy Lahiri, a successful doctor with not-so-much success in her personal life, especially with men.
Kaling’s character Kelly Kapoor will appear on several episodes of the final season of “The Office,” where she has written and had a supporting role for several years. Though it is in its final season, “The Office’s” raints have been dropping compared to last season.
Other Fox Tuesday newcomer “Ben and Kate” also recently received an order for six more episodes. “The Mob Doctor,” Fox’s only other new series, has not received any orders. Fox Tuesday nights also includes the Zooey Deschanel ratings juggernaut “New Girl.”
