Few shows have the cult following BBC’s “Absolutely Fabulous” does. It‘s likely do to the array of characters who leave you laughing so hard your side hurts. Jennifer Saunders, co-creator of the show, plays Edina the self-loathing, alcoholic publicist who spends all of her time analyzing life and trying to be the most stylish person on the block with sidekick Patsy. Patsy stands there shooting out one liners with a cigarette in one hand.
Just like “Arrested Development” and “Party Down,” fans of “Ab Fab” want a jump to the big screen to reunite with their favorites. The good news for “Ab Fab” fans is.. It’s happening! “I’m aiming to shoot this in a beautiful part of the Riviera. I fancy the south of France in the spring,” Saunders told New York magazine last month.
What perfect timining! “Ab Fab” made its television return this winter for a Christmas special. The show had no appeared on the Christmas schedule, or any schedule for that matter, for six years! On the Christmas special, Eddy and Patsy poked fun at The Kardashians, giving the show it’s highest ratings yet.
The good news is, if the movie takes a long time to film fans can expect a new “Ab Fab” TV special this summer. It’s theme? The 2012 Olympics in London of course! Americans can get the first peek at the “Ab Fab” Christmas special starting Jan. 8 at 10 p.m. ET on Logo and BBC America. The program will be available On Demand as well.
