The Fox Network has reasserted its confidence in “New Girl.”
The comedy starring Zooey Deschanel’s (playing Jess) second season will now contain 24 episodes.
“Raising Hope,” which also airs on Tuesday night, has also received an order for two more episodes, which brings it to 24 total. The show follows a young man, his daughter, and the family and friends helping to raise the girl.
“Bad news for people who don't like Raising Hope. Fox just ordered 2 more episodes! Meaning: 24 madcap Chance adventures airing this year,” series star Lucas Neff (who plays main character Jimmy) recently tweeted.
Tuesday night’s “The Mindy Project” has also gotten an order for extra episodes, which also brings it to 24. “The Mindy Project” was preempted Oct. 23, and will be again Nov. 6. Because of that and the episode order, there should be plenty of fresh episodes to go around.
“New Girl” has averaged 5.1 million viewers and a 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic for live + same day this season. It will return Tuesday night after having a week off due to last’s week presidential debate.
“New Girl” also stars Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone.
