Winning a gold medal isn’t the only perk of participating in the Olympics in recent years. Once you earn your way to the Olympics, you instantly get star status- just ask Ryan Lochte, Gabby Douglas and McKayla Maroney. These three gold medalists have already nabbed guest starring roles on 90210, Vampire Diaries and Hart of Dixie. Swimmer Missy Franklin is just the latest athlete to score some time on the small screen.
Franklin won over America’s hearts as she gushed over a tweet from Justin Bieber on post-game coverage, and now the teen is appearing on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars. The swimmer will connect with another swimmer on the show, Emily (Shay Mitchell). Having won five gold medals in the Olympics, Franklin will have plenty of advice to offer the aspiring athlete over a chat at Rosewood's local coffeeshop, The Brew.
While preparing for her upcoming role on the hit drama, Franklin just announced that she also decided that she will swim for The University of California Berkeley this year. The swimmer shared that she chose to swim amateur, not professional, so she can swim in college.
Fans can expect Franklin to appear this winter when the second half of Pretty Little Liars returns. ABC Family just announced that the second half of the season will return January 8 at 9/8c.
