On “The IT Crowd” Chris O’Dowd portrays Roy Trenneman, a man unlucky in love because too many people think he’s and “odd geek.” In “Bridesmaids” his character, officer Nathan Rhodes, struggled to win over Kristin Wiig’s heart. Even in “Pirate Radio,” Simon Swafford had terrible luck when a woman married him just to get access to the boat that rocked. The good news for O’Dowd is this is nothing similar to his real life.
O’Dowd and girlfriend, British TV personality Dawn Porter, are engaged! The couple broke the news to fans over Twitter, both showing their quirky personalities. Porter wrote, "I guess he liked it, coz he put a ring on it. #engaged.” An obvious reference to Beyonce‘s “Single Ladies” (‘if you liked it, you shoulda put a ring on it).
In his normal comedic demeanor, O’Dowd tweeted, "I'm so bored of all this happiness and sex. I'm getting married.” He added that he‘s a "very happy & lucky boy." The couple became engaged the day after Christmas.
“The IT Crowd” ended its run in 2010, and many speculate that is the last series.. At least for now. O’Dowd is currently focusing on his film career. Congrats to the happy couple!
O’Dowd and Porter are just one of a slew of recently engaged TV celebs. Reality stars Wynonna Judd and Steven Tyler also announced this week they are getting married.
